iScanForest is an iPhone application exploring the use of the built-in LiDAR sensor for measuring tree diameters and positions.
The application uses ARKit to build a spatial representation of the surrounding environment. The original tutorial describes scanning a tree stem, selecting it and reviewing the measured data.
Basic workflow
- Build the mesh. Start the app and move slowly to scan the surrounding area.
- Select a tree. Once the stem mesh is available, tap the tree and let the algorithm recognize a circular cross section.
- Review your measurements. Edit records and use the application's data-sharing options.
